Cult Carat is an independent editorial publication exploring fine jewelry as craft, culture, identity, and a part of everyday life. We look at the stories behind the pieces, the people shaping the industry, and the ways jewelry carries meaning across generations. Our perspective is curious, considered, and open to voices and makers whose work reaches beyond the familiar names.

Cult Carat was founded and is edited by Hazel Lika. Her lifelong interest in adornment grew into more than six years of work in fine jewelry. Hazel holds GIA Graduate Diamonds credentials and a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Her gemological training helps her pay attention to materials and craftsmanship, while her research background has shaped her instinct to ask how objects gather meaning, shape identity, and reflect the world around us.

Her curiosity began at home, watching her mother reach for yellow gold bangles and hoops. Those pieces were never just accessories. They held style, memory, and a sense of self. Hazel brings that same curiosity to Cult Carat. She loves learning from jewelers, designers, collectors, and readers, then translating what she discovers into stories that feel informed and human.

Cult Carat is still growing. We are building an editorial home for interviews, essays, education, and conversations that make fine jewelry more legible, more expansive, and more connected to the lives of the people who wear it.
